The None on Record Crew has meet some visionaries while collecting stories. Here are a few of the people and organizations we highly recommend. These folks are changing the world!
South Africa
Behind the Mask--The only African-based journalism website devoted solely to African LGBT issues, Behind the Mask, strives to change negative attitudes towards homosexuality and same sex traditions in Africa. The beautiful people at Behind The Mask in Johannesburg welcomed None on Record into their offices and shared their stories.
Forum for The Empowerment of Women--Forum for the Empowerment of Women (FEW), is a networking, empowerment and support organisation of and for black lesbians in and around Johannesburg.
GALA Archives--The Gay and Lesbian Archives at Wits University in Johannesburg was one of our first stops in South Africa. This LGBT informatin hub and archive was like candyland!
United States
U People-- Lesbian filmmakers Hanifah Walidah and Olive Demetrius are making moves! Check out their documentary film about what happened in a brownstone in Brooklyn one spring weekend where 30 gay, straight women and trans folks of color got together to shoot a not so typical music video. They also have a great weekly podcast.
Canada
Women's Health in Women's Hands-- is a community health center for black women and women of color in Toronto. They prioritize women from Africa, the Carribean, Latin America and South Asia.
