None on Record is a digital media organization dedicated to working with LGBT communities across the African continent and in the Diaspora. We focus our work in three areas – digital media production and documentation, technology and media training programs, and culture and innovation. None on Record is looking for a dynamic, talented and proactive individual to take up the position of Social Media Producer in our Nairobi office.

Title: Filmmaking Trainers

Positions to Fill: 2

Duration of Assignment: 3 Training Days, 1-Month Prep

Period of Assignment: March – April 2018

We are currently looking for qualified French speaking filmmakers and digital media practitioners to fill the role of trainers for a workshop facilitated by NOR that will take place in April 2018. The purpose of the workshop is to give participants skills in:

  1. Documentary Pre-Production
  2. Documentary Production
  3. Video Editing
  4. Video Distribution

The participants will most likely be amateurs or complete beginners in the subject and this will therefore be an introductory course.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Have experience working successfully with the LGBT communities in West Africa.
  2. Have extensive experience facilitating digital media workshops or seminars.
  3. Is knowledgeable in all aspects of filmmaking and has strengths in camera operation and non-linear editing with Adobe Premier Pro.
  4. Is reliable and capable of working in an independent manner and is also a good team player.
  5. Have the ability to work with individuals of all skill levels.
  6. Have excellent command of English and French both written and spoken.


  • The role of the trainers will be to:
    1. Merge their existing training materials with our curriculum to develop a three-day course timetable that will see the trainees produce a short 1-2 minute video (filmed and edited) at the end of the workshop.


    1. Deliver a three-day workshop in a participating country.


    1. Work with the NOR’s Training Manager and other team members on workshop logistics.


    1. Commit to trainee assistance after workshop has ended for an eight-week period.


The Application MUST include:

  1. A one page cover letter detailing among other things concrete examples of work with the LGBT community and a short outline of your skills and experience.


  1. A sample workshop plan for a 3-day Introduction to Filmmaking and Editing.
